John Herrington was born and raised near Killeen, Texas on the Herrington Homestead. After graduating from Baylor University,
John received a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He has been a pastor at churches in central Texas and Wyoming. He has
served as Evangelism and Missions Director of the Wyoming Southern Baptist
Convention for seventeen years. After his retirement in 2001, he answered
the call to serve the Risen Son Southern Baptist church in Thermopolis, Wyoming
where he presently pastors.
Because of his interest in the history of the western mountain man, John has built fifty five authentic "American Long Rifles" - one of which is on the cover
of the book.
John became interested in the life of Jedediah S. Smith, the great mountain
man, western trapper, and explorer. All of these facts gave birth to
Jedediah, And a Tale of Revenge.
